In Nice, autumn doesn’t mark the end of the city’s vibrant atmosphere. Quite the opposite, in fact. From October to November, the capital of the Côte d’Azur comes alive with a particularly rich cultural programme: festivals, photography, cinema, local traditions, exhibitions, shows and major concerts punctuate the season.

If you’re wondering what to do in Nice in October and November 2026, here are the events not to be missed if you want to experience the city in a different light.

L’Automne de l’Image: a celebration of photography and cinema

From 19 September to 29 November 2026, Nice will host the 5th edition of L’Automne de l’Image, a season entirely dedicated to cinema, photography and the visual arts.

Over several weeks, exhibitions, screenings, talks, performances and workshops will take place at various cultural venues in Nice and the surrounding area.

Among this year’s unmissable events is Un Festival C’est Trop Court!, running from 2 to 9 October 2026. Dedicated to European short films, the festival features several competitions focusing on animation, regional productions and experimental filmmaking.

This 26th edition focuses in particular on the themes of travel, migration, the Mediterranean and exploration, through film screenings, talks, workshops and exhibitions.

From mid-November onwards, the programme continues with, notably, Artifice Numérique: Humanité! and the  OVNi biennial, which explores the moving image across various cultural and heritage venues in Nice.

A true common thread for discovering another side to the city, blending heritage, contemporary creation and new imagery.

Saint Réparate: a deeply rooted Nice tradition

On 4 October 2026, Nice pays tribute to Saint Réparate, the city’s patron saint.

The celebrations take place mainly around Sainte-Réparate Cathedral, in the heart of Old Nice. This tradition highlights the importance of religious heritage and patron saint festivals in the city’s history.

Beyond the event itself, it is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the history of Sainte-Réparate and her role in Nice’s identity.

Nice la Belle celebrates 70 years of traditions

Autumn 2026 will also mark the 70th anniversary of Nice la Belle, a celebration dedicated to passing on the culture and traditions of Nice.

On 18 October, a surprise treasure hunt will set off from the Maison Francine Gag and head for the Château hill, followed by a festive evening starting at 5 pm.

Another event is scheduled for 14 November, featuring an open day at the Maison Francine Gag. Singing, music, sewing, creative workshops, balèti and dancing will offer visitors the chance to discover the different facets of Nice’s culture.

An original way to discover Nice through the elements that have defined its identity for several generations.

Major autumn concerts in Nice

Autumn is also a wonderful time to enjoy Nice’s music scene.

Events to note in your diary include:

Véronique Sanson will perform at the Palais Nikaïa on 12 November 2026, whilst Vanessa Paradis will take to the same stage on 13 November.

Music lovers will also be able to enjoy a varied programme across Nice’s various venues, ranging from jazz and world music to rock and French chanson.

Autumn at the Nice Opera House

Autumn is also a chance to rediscover the Nice Côte d’Azur Opera House with a programme that blends great classics with new productions.

In November, The Merry Widow will take centre stage at the Nice Opera House from 12 November 2026, in a production characterised by celebration, glamour and passion.

It’s another way to enjoy Nice in autumn, when the city turns its attention more towards its cultural life.

Why visit Nice in autumn?

Autumn ultimately reveals a different side to Nice.

Temperatures remain pleasant, the streets take on a more peaceful pace, and the city makes more room for its cultural life. It’s also an ideal time to rediscover certain neighbourhoods, enjoy the museums and galleries, linger in cafés and restaurants, or simply take the time to admire Nice’s architecture and heritage.

With photography, cinema, traditions, music and shows, October and November offer plenty of opportunities to experience Nice in a new light.
